ATTENTION ALL NATIONAL GUARD UNITS WITH TYPE IV PMEL LABS

By Mike Kelly, Vice President Air

AFGE Local 2986

rother and Sisters there is a sinister situation that is coming to a head that we need to take action on.  All of you should be aware of  the pending elimination of all type IV PMEL labs in the Air Force and subsequently the Guard as well. It has been stated by NGB that the effected people will be absorbed into the AIS back shops where applicable. As for the rest of the units, I am not aware of what they plan to do with their effected people.

Let me tell you what action I am taking on behalf of my member in this situation. I have been accumulating all message traffic that has come out of NGB. I have made a formal Data Request of NGB pertaining to any Air Force directive on this issue.

To date NGB has failed to respond.  What I want from all ANG units that are affected by this action is to contact me. We must unite  and fight this issue with one loud voice.  United we are a force to reckon with. I have a lot of information that you may or may not have.

I brought this issue to AFGE Legislative caucus last year in D.C.  I was the only Voice speaking out on this issue on behalf of the ANG. I intend to address this issue again this year in D.C. I am prepared to go to any length to represent my members. I need your support and interaction to be ready to I & I this issue, if and when it comes to pass.

ontracting out is destroying the jobs of federal employees and dumping important government programs into a dangerous swamp of waste fraud and abuse.

Study after study has documented the cost-overruns and poor performance of contractors who are allowed to run amok because of bad or non-existent contract administration. Nevertheless, the Administration continues to race ahead, with little or no opposition from Congress. The swamp just gets bigger and deeper, swallowing up billion and billions of additional taxpayer dollars with no serious scrutiny of whether the policy serves our government's goals of quality, accountability and efficiency.
