NDAA 2001

As your Council President I am pleased to report that on 30 October President Clinton signed into law HR 4205 the Floyd Spence National Defense Act for Fiscal year 2001.   Contained in the law are changes which were agreed to by Congress which replaces NDAA 2000 language pertaining to Mandatory retirement for Non-dual status technicians in both the Army and Air Reserve.   As a result non-dual status technicians will not be mandatory retired until and unless they attain age 60 and are eligible for an unreduced annuity.

THIS CHANGE COULD NOT have BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE UNITED EFFORTS OF TECHNICIANS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE MEMBERS OF AFGE COUNCIL 164.
