End Strengths 2001
H. R. 5408 the Floyd D. Spence National Defense authorization act for fiscal year 2001 reflects the following authorizations:
Section 413 End strengths for military technicians (dual status).
The minimum number of military technicians (dual status) as of the last day of fiscal year 2001 for the reserve component of the Army and the Air Force (notwithstanding section 129 of title 10, United States Code) shall be the following:
(1) For the Army National Guard of the United States, 23, 128.
(2) For the Army Reserve, 5, 921.
(3) For the Air National Guard of the United States, 22, 247.
(4) For the Air Force Reserve, 9, 785.
Section 414. Fiscal year 2001 limitation on non-dual status technicians.
(a). Limitations-The number of non dual status technicians employed by the reserve components of the Army and the Air Force as of September 30, 2001, may not exceed the following:
(1) For the Army Reserve, 1,195.
(2) For the Army National Guard of the United States, 1,600.
(3) For the Air Force Reserve, 10.
(4) For the Air National Guard of the United States, 326.
(B.) Non-dual status technicians defined-In this section, the term non-dual status technicians have the meaning given that term in section 10217 (a) of title 10, United States Code.
As indicated above, this year's law has provided the most significant increase in military technician's authorizations we have seen in many years throughout the Reserve components.
In addition as indicated above a substantial authorization for non-dual status
technicians as also been authorized.
