Congress Fails to Agree on Early Retirement Provisions of NDAA 2001

Although technicians and others throughout made a strong effort to persuade the Congress to change the Early retirement provisions contained in NDAA 2000 to make this provision fair and equitable to all regardless of hire date we were unsuccessful. Although language contained in the Senate version of NDAA 2001 would have accomplished this during conference of this issue the House refused to agree and the Senate receded. As a result the language in NDAA 2000 pertaining to this issue remains unchanged. Both Ron and I will be going to DC during the week of 16 November to discuss this issue with key Congressional representatives on the House side in an attempt to find some middle ground that all can accept for possible passage of new legislation in next years laws. Unfortunately there is nothing further than can be done this year!!

The next issue of our newsletter will contain an Article addressing this issue in full detail.
